Clean Campus Phase II soon, says Chennithala

The second phase of the Clean Campus campaign would start shortly after the schools reopen, Home Minister. Ramesh Chennithala said here on Friday.

Inaugurating a function organised by the Kerala Police Association to bid farewell to State Police Chief K.S. Balasubrahmanian and DGP Alexander Jacob, the Minister said ADGP (modernisation) Arunkumar Sinha would be in charge of the operation through which the government intends to stop the sale of liquor or drugs to children.

Around 62,000 persons have been caught as part of ‘Operation Suraksha’, implemented under the leadership of Mr. Balasubrahmanian. Similarly, the role played by Mr. Jacob in building the Police Academy would be remembered for long, Mr. Chennithala said.

Mr. Balasubrahmanian said the ‘Clean Campus’ was special in that its goal was moulding of a safe generation. Mr. Jacob said there has always been a misconception that higher officials should maintain a safe distance from subordinates. “I have been questioned by media for my friendly association with my subordinates,. But I am always proud of that,” he said.
