Self-defence training for women

The State police will hold self-defence classes for women at the neighbourhood level. Women police officers, members of the neighbourhood watch and police-experts in unarmed combat will be drafted to make the scheme a success.

Residents associations, women self-help groups, universities and non-profit organisations will be roped into the programme.

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the scheme at 2.30 p.m. at the Women’s College Auditorium here on Monday.

Mayor K. Chandrika, State Police Chief T.P. Senkumar, ADGPs K. Padmakumar, Arun Kumar Sinha, IG Manoj Abraham, Kudumbasree director B. Valsala Kumari and City Police Commissioner H. Venkatesh will be present. – Special Correspondent
