AAP holds blood donation camp

April 22, 2014 12:37 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 12:47 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

A blood donation camp was organised at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital by members of the Aam Admi Party in the city on Monday.

The programme was organised in coordination with the blood bank of MGMGH. Ms. Mercy Evangelin, blood bank officer, said that regular blood donors of MGMGH along with party members donated blood at the camp.

“Blood donation transcends all barriers of community, caste, and religion and is beneficial to all members of the society irrespective of their creed. We organised this camp to benefit the members of the society,” said Mr. Syed Omer Muckthar, member, Aam Admi Party, Tiruchi.

About the event not confirming to the Election Commission campaign norms, Mr. Muckthar said the camp was not part of the campaign at all and was organised with a general concern towards the public. “We (the party representatives) had asked for permission to organise the blood donation camp on March 22 itself but we were granted permission only for April 21,” he said.
