A.V. Krishnan, Executive Director, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, garlanded the statue of late B.R. Ambedkar and offered floral tributes, on his 123rd birth anniversary here on Monday.
Mr. Krishnan in his brief speech to the employees of BHEL said that Ambedkar’s principles continued to inspire people to transcend lives beyond castes, creeds and religion, he said.Leaders of various political parties garlanded the statues of Ambedkar and paid floral tributes to his portraits across the district.
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadre led by R. Manoharan, Government Chief Whip and urban district secretary of the party, garlanded the late leader’s statue near the railway junction. P. Kumar, AIADMK Lok Sabha poll candidate and M. Paranjothi, MLA, were present.
The cadre of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam were led by Anbil Periasamy, former MLA. G. Jerome Arokyaraj, urban district president of the Congress along with party’s poll candidate Sarubala Tondaiman; Vijayaraja, secretary of the urban district unit of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam and the party’s candidate A.M.G. Vijayakumar; Subramanian, state secretary and Parthiban, district president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, garlanded the statue of Ambedkar.The leaders and cadre of Marumalarchi Dravida Kazhagam, All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Puthiya Tamilagam, and Bahujan Samajwadi Party, also paid floral tributes to the statue.
