Students should develop various life skills without being complacent with their academic achievement, said K. Ramasamy, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.

Delivering the convocation address of the Periyar EVR College here on Saturday, he said that libraries played a key role in developing students’ knowledge in spite of the advancement in technology. He cited the efforts made by T.M. Saravanan, Roja Muthiah Chettiar of Karaikudi, and Gnanalaya Library in Pudukottai.

Prof. Ramasamy wanted the students to develop their knowledge in English. “Adopt simple practices to learn the art of speaking and writing in English,” he told the students.

N. Selvaraj, principal of the college, read out a report.

Earlier, Mr. Ramasamy conferred the degree on 789 students, including 491 women.
