A 27-year-old woman was murdered by her husband in their house at Puthur Palayam near Kallakudi on Monday night.
The police have arrested A. Sasikumar (38) on the charge of killing his wife S. Viji. The couple have a three-year-old son and a six-year-old daughter.
Police sources said a quarrel erupted between the couple took a turn for the worse leading to the crime. The sources said the woman was apparently against her husband attending the house warming ceremony of the latter’s brother.
A wordy duel broke out between the couple and in a fit of rage Sasikumar attacked his wife with a weapon inflicting multiple injuries on her body, the police said. The woman died at the Government Hospital in Tiruchi in the late hours on Monday. Sasikumar was later sent to remand. The Kallakudi police have registered a case.
