A museum on wheels christened, Museo’bus, is on a 12-day visit to the district.

The Museo’bus of the Department of Museums was launched by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in June this year and the vehicle started its tour of the district from Srirangam on Monday.

Government Chief Whip R. Manoharan flagged off the bus in the presence of P. Kumar, MP, M. Paranjothi, MP, and K. Tharpagaraj, District Revenue Officer (in-charge).

The initiative aims at enabling people and students to explore a mini mobile museum for learning and enjoyment.

Glass enclosures with pictorial, graphic, and exhibits on various topics such as archaeology, philately, numismatics, zoology, botany, geography, and palaeontology offer rich information.

Officials said the mobile museum would visit two schools every day in the district till September 12.
