Electricity consumption pattern has been increasing and several utility gadgets have come necessitating more generation of power, said R. Kumaresan, Chief Engineer (Distribution), Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco), Tiruchi Region, here on Saturday.

“We have to use more wind and solar energy. People should go for energy saving. People should use energy saving equipment. Every year, Tangedco observes Energy Conservation Week from December 14 to 20. During this week, we create awareness among people about energy saving,” Mr. Kumaresan said speaking at the valedictory of Energy Conservation Week observation.

Tangedco officials at the Assistant Engineer level visit schools and create awareness among students.

A rally was taken out by students from Thennur to St. Joseph College to create awareness among people about energy saving.

A patti mandram was held on energy conservation.

K. Sekar, Syndicate Member, Bharathidasan University, was the moderator.

Prizes were distributed among students who won in various competitions on energy saving.
