Physics department (aided section) won the overall shield at the two-day annual interdepartmental cultural festival ‘Confluence-2014’ organised by the Students Union of the Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College which concluded on Saturday. Mathematics department (aided-section) finished runner-up.
The festival was conducted on the theme ‘the indomitable spirit of women’.
While the mathematics department won the winners’ shield in the unaided section, the runners’ award was bagged by Applied Commerce Department.
After three rounds, five students were selected for the final round of the main event, ‘Ms. SRC’. The winner was finalised based on the performance in the situational question round. Udayachandrika of III Applied Commerce was crowned ‘Ms. SRC’.
The students exhibited their talents by participating in different events. The students in the mono act staged the various positions of women and the challenges they face and excel. Vegetable carvings, mehandi, rangoli, portrayal, pencil sketching, and sculpturing by students showcased their innate talents and their creativity.
All the word cascade events displayed their oratory skills in various languages. Students enjoyed and excelled by performing excellent dance movements.
Thilakam, Head, Department of Mathematics, was the chief guest at the valediction and she gave away prizes to the winners.
M.Jayanthi, principal, motivated the students to remain spirited forever and congratulated them for showcasing their talents in a brilliant manner.
S.Ishwarya, chairperson, Students’ Union, offered felicitations. Earlier, M.Padmalatha, singer from Chennai, inaugurated the cultural festival on Friday.
