The anniversary celebrations of the Srimaan Trust in Srirangam on Sunday provided an opportunity to students to exhibit their talents.
They presented a dance drama on ‘Sri Andal Tirukalayanam’ that included various sequences depicting Her divine love of Sri Andal towards Lord Ranganathar. In all, 14 students participated in the vent.
“As students are familiar with the holy ‘Pasurams’ of Sri Andal, they were at ease in their performance of the respective roles,” said R. Jayasree, coordinator of the trust.
The function also marked the inauguration of the ‘gho-salai.’ K.R.V. Ganesan, Managing Partner, Aswins Home Special, who inaugurated the ‘gho-salai,’ underlined the importance of protecting the livestock as part of promoting bio-diversity.
Parasara Badrinarayana Bhattar Swamigal, founder of the trust, said that the trust has been working for the cause of imbibing values among students. As many as 20 students who completed their course on ‘Naalayira Divya Prabandham,’ being offered by the Srimaan Battar Gurukulam, got their certificates. “These students are quite familiar with the Prabandham.
They have undergone the training in ‘agama’ guidelines,” he said. Sri Ranganarayana Jeer, Jeer of Srirangam, gave away the certificates to them.
The gurukulam made arrangements for the students to appear for the SSLC public examination.
The ‘gurukulam’ has strength of 20 students of whom 10 pupils had passed the SSLC examination held in March this year. Coaching was being given to others for their academic prospects.
P. Jayaraman, Joint Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, and S. Raveendran, secretary of the Saranathan College of Engineering, gave away assistance to visually-challenged persons and prizes to winners in the Raamayanam contest held as part of the anniversary.
