Residents of Manapparai heaved a sigh of relief as the Tiruchi Divisional Railway officials initiated the construction of a sub-way near the road over-bridge in Manapparai.

Many issues like paucity of space for bringing in heavy machinery caused problem. Besides, a number of telephone cables and electric posts hindered the work, a railway official told The Hindu recently.

The delay in constructing the sub-way posed hardship to residents of colonies situated adjacent to the road over bridge.

They had to cross the tracks, which is not safe.

The work would be completed by September-end, sources said.
