4C formula need of the hour to promote tourism

July 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:06 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (APCCIF) is organising a State level conference on tourism sector here on July 15. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will participate as the chief guest. Tourism industry captains and investors from all over the country will take part in the conclave.

Announcing this in a press meet on Saturday, APCCIF president-elect M. Murali Krishna said the event was aimed at realising the potential of tourism sector in the State which is beset by dearth of investments and inefficiencies in the system.

The APCCIF has made certain recommendations for promoting the sector, which has been recognised as an industry, and they would be reflected in the tourism policy to be released later this month. The main suggestion was to reduce the lease amount to be paid on lands allotted to tourism projects from five per cent of the land value to two per cent. The State government has given in-principle clearance for it.

Tourism industry veteran and APCCIF Tourism Committee member B.R. Rao said tourism sector has to be guided by the 4C formula which stands for cleanliness, courtesy, cuisine and comfort. Entrepreneurs cannot falter on any of those counts if their ventures are to be successful. A.P should tap the tremendous opportunities offered by beach tourism and adventure sports, he said.
