The demand for antique jewellery is going up, not to mention people’s craze for temple-inspired designs.

This was evident during Fashion Fiesta, an exhibition of designer wear, fashion jewellery, home decors and lifestyle products, which is on at Seshasai Kalyana Mandapam. The three-day expo commenced here on Tuesday.

“These are amazing. Besides, detailing the designs and styles of the past, the antique temple-inspired jewellery is affordable,” said Manjulatha, a visitor.

Inspired by the ancient temple ornament designs, the antique temple jewellery is made of silver and comes with gold plating. Unlike imitation jewellery, this can be repaired and does not cause skin rashes, says Arvind Macherla of Temple Antique, which has set up a stall at the expo.

However, making the jewellery is not easy, as they are hand-crafted and require lot of time. They come in various patterns of bindis, necklace, jhumkis, pendants and bangles. There is also great demand for pendants, he adds. Managements dealing in home furnishings and designer sarees for children have set up nearly 80 stalls.
