The usually calm environs at the Municipal Corporation Stadium, Ajitsinghnagar, on Saturday reverberated with screeching sounds of luxury cars, cheers and whistles.
Many car lovers in the city had a rare opportunity of experiencing the complete range of BMW sedans and Sports Activity Vehicles on a specially designed test course.
Under the Experience Tour 2015, the BMW India Group organised a special programme in the city providing car lovers a platform to experience the company brand, test drive vehicles and interact with experts. Vijayawada is the 12{+t}{+h}city in the country to host the tour.
Making the tour exciting, the company conducted a few activities wherein the visitors were made to drive the cars of their choice.
And for the speed lovers, there was a test course and they were made to take laps of the track.
Special instructors monitored the performance of the drivers and even checked their timing to complete a lap.
If this was one side of the fun, at the other end, there were a few drivers, who were trying their hands at side drifting the vehicles.
“It was all fun. We always read and heard about the durability and performance of BMW vehicles but today we had real-time experience,” said Pavan, a visitor.
The objective behind conducting the tour was to enable the customers to get a first-hand experience of the cars, the technology, safety systems and other features, said Frank Schloeder, Director (Marketing), BMW India.
Apart from driving, visitors also had the opportunity to check lifestyle products from the company and the BMWi8 two door sports car, which runs on fuel and electricity and costs Rs. 2.29 crore (ex-showroom price New Delhi).
