Fire safety week begins at airport

Employees of Gannavaram Airport are organising a series of programmes in connection with the Fire Safety Week that commenced on Monday.

Airport Director B.G. Patil on Tuesday said competitions for staff as well as children were being conducted during the weeklong programme. Over 40 staff, including firemen will be attending the programmes that will conclude on Sunday. Emphasis was mainly laid on safety measures to be taken in case a fire breaks out, he explained.

A drill was also organised on the airport premises to check the preparedness of the staff during emergency situations. Prizes will be distributed to the winners on Sunday.
