The sprawling campus of P.B. Siddhartha College of Arts and Science boomed with high energy on Wednesday.

Celebrating Freshers’ Day 2014 on a high note, the college seniors accorded a warm welcome to the fresh batches of students while the latter put their best foot forward to leave a perfect first impression.

Dressed to kill

Dressed to kill, the young new entrants walked into the college portal fighting apprehensions of jeers and sneers. But their fears soon melted away into smiles that befriended many like-minded souls in the vicinity.

It was a day of mixed emotions; trying to muster courage to face a whole new world amid the excitement of finally being able to be part of the college life.

Day of mixed emotions

Little did they know that a whole lot of fun awaited them in the auditorium which reverberated with friendly hoots and cheers by seniors who ushered them in with warm smiles.

The seniors had planned it all. Gourav R. Parikh, a third year B.Com (Taxation) student, with the assistance of a group of animated youngsters, supervised a well-designed cultural bonanza.

“The objective is to rid the freshers of the stress factor and ensure their easy transition into college life,” said Mr. Parikh.

Pure magic

What unfolded thereafter was pure magic that cast its spell over one and all.

Students came in groups and presented peppy dance numbers, humour-laced skits, mellifluous singing session and a sizzling ramp walk.

Chairman of the Vijayawada zone of CII Cmdr. V.V.M. Krishna, the chief guest on the occasion, urged students to make the best of this crucial stage in life.

Constructive way

He said students must use internet in a constructive way and focus on improving their soft skills.

College Principal M.V.N Padma Rao, Director V. Baburao, Principal of Junior College M. Sambasiva Rao, Director of the PG Centre K. Krishna Murthy and others participated.
