Heavy rain lashes Anantapur district

April 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

An upper air trough running from Telangana to South Tamil Nadu across Rayalaseema caused heavy rain in Anantapur district for the second consecutive day. Isolated rains were recorded in Vizianagaram, Prakasam, Guntur, Kurnool and Visakhpatnam districts.

The highest rainfall of over 8 cm was recorded in Madakasira in Anantapur district. The other places that received heavy rainfall are Gummagatta 7 cm, Gooty 5 cm both of Anantapur districts. Heavy rains accompanied by wind in many places brought respite to people reeling under sweltering heat in drought-hit Prakasam district. No loss of life or damage to property had been reported so far from anywhere in the district, DRO Noor Basha Qasim said.
