IGP leads special party in combing Seshachalam

The exercise assumes importance as the Tirumala Brahmotsavams is just round the corner.

Inspector-General of Police (Rayalaseema) V.V. Gopalakrishna led a team of special party policemen in combing the porous Seshachalam forest near here on Saturday. The exercise assumes importance as the Tirumala Brahmotsavams is just round the corner.

Accompanied by Deputy Inspector-General of Police B. Balakrishna and Superintendent of Police (Tirupati Urban) Gopinath Jatti, he undertook a trek in the rocky terrain of Mamandur area, which is frequented by red sanders smugglers. He sought information on the regular routes and porous entry points used by the habitual offenders. He instructed the STF and taskforce members to increase surveillance on these routes and also heighten assaults on the smugglers pouring into these spots.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ilias Basha, RSI Bhaskar and members of the task force took part.
