Pushkaram pilgrims continued to throng Sri Kanaka Durga Temple atop Indrakeeladri for the second consecutive Sunday.
The lanes and bylanes on Canal Road, Sri Durga Ghat, Sri Kanakadurga Nagar and Brahmin Street connecting the temple teemed with devotees. As the main parking area at Sri Kanakadurga Nagar was packed with vehicles, pilgrims were forced to park their vehicles on the Canal Road.
As the crowd started surging since morning, the traffic police swung into action and ensured smooth flow of vehicular traffic from the Canal Road to Bhavanipuram.
They placed makeshift barricades at the island in front of Model guesthouse to prevent people from driving in wrong direction. Temple Executive Officer Ch. Narsing Rao while interacting with the media persons said the three-day long ‘Shakambari Devi festival’ would be organised at the temple from July 29 to 31.
During the celebrations, Goddess Kanakadurga would be decorated with vegetables and fruits and worshipped as Shakambari Mata, the EO added.
