Swecha, a part of free software movement of India, will organise a seminar on “Employment opportunities in changing technology landscape,” on September 23 here at Mahima Gardens.
Member of German Hacker Association Chaos Computer Club, Andy Muller-Maguhn, director of Social and Economic Justice at Thoughtworks, Matt Simons and secretary of Free Software Movement of India Kiran Chandra will address the students.
Swecha released its first operating system in Telugu in 2005 and later joined the Free Software Movement started by Richard Stallman. It released E-Swecha OS for engineering community in 2008 and since then has been organising workshops on free software for students.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, MLC K.S Lakshmana Rao said that the employment opportunities have fluctuated over the years making the students feel jittery. Free software has been opening up new vistas of learning and employment generation.
