When film actor Chandramohan is around, the atmosphere is always electric. It was no different on Monday, when he was in the city to participate in a programme at Ghantasala Music and Dance College.

“Coming to Vijayawada is always special to me. It is like a daughter coming to her hometown after a long time. It was in Vijayawada, that I first donned grease paint for a drama,” said Mr. Chandramohan amidst huge round of applause from the audience.

He said that he had learnt the basics of acting in the city.

First break

Recalling his days in the industry, the actor said it was legendary B.N. Reddy, who had given him the first break in “Rangula Ratnam” movie. “Incidentally, I bagged the Swarna Nandi award for my performance in the movie,” he said.

Ramana Cultural Arts in association with the Andhra Arts Academy felicitated the actor in recognition of service to the film industry and his achievements.

He has been working continuously for the last 50 years and that too with different generations of actors.

“Probably it was due to my ability to adjust to the changing times and patterns in the industry. It feels good that I did not take a break even for a month during these 50 years,” said the actor.

On being called as a lucky charm for heroines in the industry, he replied “It was promoted in a large way and many heroines wanted to work with me.”

He thanked all the people, who had prayed for his health and well being, when he was hospitalised following ill health in Hyderabad recently.
