July 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:04 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Municipal Commissioner G. Veerapandian on Saturday suspended three officials of the VMC Estates section for dereliction of duties and causing financial loss to the VMC. The officials were M. Raj Kumar (Superintendent), Revenue Inspector V.I. Lenin (Revenue Inspector) and K. Srinivasa Rao (Joint Assistant).

An auction was conducted for granting the cellar parking fee collection rights at Kaleswara Rao Market on June 20. According to the rules, the officials were supposed to grant permission to the successful bidder K. Satyanarayana after payment of the requisite fee, including EMD of Rs.36.5 lakh.

However, the three officials granted permission to Mr. Satyanarayana without collecting the entire fee and the same was not informed to the higher officials, which resulted in a financial loss to the corporation.
