July 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The Visakhapatnam region of AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) and the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) have come out with special services for the Godavari Pushkarams slated to begin on July 14.

The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) has not made any announcement on running of special trains from Visakhapatnam to Rajahmundry till Sunday evening. It’s, however, learnt that they have decided to operate two special trains to Rajahmundry.

Tourists, planning to take the holy bath, can also visit three more temples en route on their return trip as part of the package tour being offered by the APTDC. The buses will start from the APTDC office in the city at 11 p.m. and reach Rajahmundry at 4.30 the next morning. “The tourists can also have darshan at Kumara Bheemeswara Swamy temple at Samarlakota, Kukkuteswara Swamy temple at Pithapuram and Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy temple at Annavaram. We are trying to make arrangements for quick darshan at these temples ,” APTDC General Manager G. Bheemasankara Rao told The Hindu on Sunday.

The Visakhapatnam Region of APSRTC will operate Godavari Pushkaram specials from Visakhapatnam to Rajahmundry from July 13.

The special buses of RTC will drop the passengers at the Rajahmundry Arts College and from there they would be taken by local buses, free of cost, to the bathing ghats. Passengers coming in groups can also book an entire bus, an employee at the Enquiry Counter at the Dwaraka Bus Station (RTC Complex) said on Sunday.

Shuttle service

A MEMU (Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit) will be operated from Visakhapatnam to Rajahmundry. This will be shuttle service for the benefit of pilgrims.

Another train Visakhapatnam–Rajahmundry Express will be operated for two trips -- one in the morning and the other in the evening. The timings are being worked out.
