If people start speaking out the rulers are bound to take notice, Judge of Supreme Court Justice Jasti Chelameswar said here on Saturday.
“Everyone in the system has a responsibility for providing a dignified life to our children and grandchildren. So pay attention to the problems and point out the mistakes, come out with suggestions. Start speaking out. Create noise but not nuisance”, Mr. Justice Chelameswar said while addressing members of the Waltair Club here on Saturday as he expressed concern over the changing conditions and wondered pleasant environment was possible in future.
Society without law and order and peace was not a pleasant place to live and if there was a friction in society the administration would become weak, he said.
The problems were similar to all democracies but a country like the US which was relatively new and made up of immigrants mostly had understood the value of freedom and overcome the problems, refining the system. He hoped the same would happen to Indian society though it might take some time.
Mr. Justice Chelameswar, one of the two judges of the Supreme Court Bench, the other being Mr. Justice Rohinton F. Nariman, that struck down Section 66A of the Information Technology Act said all facilities needed some regulations. “Law is being abused in its application and it is more dangerous if a law enforcing agency is intelligent and dishonest”, he observed.
President of Waltair Club and senior advocate D.V.S.S. Somayajulu presided. Judge of High Court of Andhra Pradesh Mr. Justice Chandrayya, Principal District Judge Jayasurya, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Naval Command Vice-Admiral Satish Soni and others attended.
