Cyclone Hudhud has ravaged the city and caused immense losses to the people, especially those from the economically weaker sections, it is time for all of us to come together and extend relief to the affected and not seek to make political mileage of the situation, Mala Mahanadu national president Karem Sivaji said.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu by staying put in the city in the aftermath of the cyclone has done a lot for the affected persons, but there is a lot more to be done. The government alone cannot provide relief to all the affected persons, “I appeal to all, including the NRIs, to look at it as a disaster and extend their help,” he said. He distributed a bag of rice and a saree to each household in the SC Colony at Peda Gadili here on Thursday and, went round the colony to see the damage wrought by the cyclone.

“I request the government not to hold back relief to inhabitants of this colony just because the are in ‘illegal’ occupation of devasthanam lands. I wish the officials would extend all possible help to them rebuild their lives on humanitarian grounds,” he told The Hindu .
