YSR Congress Party’s honorary president and Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha candidate Y.S. Vijayamma for the second day on her campaign trail focussed on the problems of fishermen community.

Despite being a big draw, she evoked lukewarm response all along the road show route that touched key areas in all the three constituencies of Visakhapatnam East, North and South.

Addressing the gathering at various places as part of her road show, she said that compensation for fishermen, gone missing at sea, would be enhanced from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh, if her party is voted to power. She announced that Rs. 50,000 would be released to the family within 15 days and the remaining amount of Rs. 4.5 lakh would be released within a period of one year. Ms. Vijayamma also promised to give 30 kg of rice and Rs. 3,000 per family during the 45-day fishing holiday period in a year.

Wooing the minority Muslim community she pointed out that it was because of her husband and former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy that the community got enlisted under the BC (E) list.

At Visakhapatnam (North) she spoke about addressing the pollution problem of the city and promised to develop the IT and pharmaceutical sector.

The road show that began at Dairy Farm Junction in Visakhapatnam (east) constituency culminated at Old Post Office in Visakhapatnam (South).
