LIC sports meet begins

The LIC of India South Central Zone sports meet was off to an impressive start at the Port indoor stadium here on Tuesday. More than 200 players from 17 Divisions of the Zone are participating in volleyball, table tennis and badminton events to be held over three days.

Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Port Trust M.T. Krishna Babu inaugurated the meet. He appealed to employees of public sector undertakings to rededicate themselves to strengthing the public sector. He advised players of national and international stature to train young players.

Senior Divisional Manager D. Tandi presided. MLC M.V.S. Sarma, a former employee of LIC, recalled his experience of playing for Visakhapatnam Division in the LIC South Zone table tennis and badminton tournaments. Convenor of the sports meet D.V.S.Y. Sarma presented a report. Regional Manager (HRD) V.B. Krishna Murthy, Member of LIC Sports Promotion Board Chandrasekhar and Manager (P and IR) R. Satyanarayana spoke.
