NTPC became the first organisation to restore normal production at 2,000-MW Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station at Parawada near here in a record time notwithstanding damage caused by Cyclone Hudhud.

Group General Manager A.K. Samanta said restoration work was possible in a short time due to intensive pre-cyclone planning and precautionary measures including bringing the unit down to minimum technical load.

The first unit started generation on Thursday and other two units were brought on-line subsequently. Unit-4 is also ready for generation. Mr. Samanta said they had also launched tree plantation drive in addition to providing drinking water and conducting health camps in the neighbourhood of the township.
