Patriotic fervour marks R-Day celebrations

Bringing the rich culture and heritage of the Republic Day celebrations to the fore, several schools in the city celebrated the day with flag-hoisting ceremony, parades and cultural programmes.

The city soaked in the festive spirit as hundreds of students teamed up to take part in a series of events. Patriotic fervour filled the air as students of Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan made merry to mark the 66th Republic Day with a host of cultural programmes. March past, music and dance were part of the day’s programme. Gastroenterologist Peda Veerraju, organising secretary of RSS P. Janardhan and Colonel Nilesh Karia of Army Staff Chief Commendation spoke on the importance of instilling patriotism among students and told them to instill teambuilding skills and spread the message of brotherhood. Director of the school Ch. Vasu Prakash and staff took part in the celebrations.

The significant role of students and teachers in improving the literacy level and overall economic growth was highlighted as part of the Republic Day celebrations observed at Kendriya Vidyalaya – Malkapuram. Principal of the school D. Vijaya said that every individual plays a role in bringing change and contributing to the development of the country. Classical dance performances were held where the celebrations concluded with a prize distribution ceremony.

The spirit of unity soared high as students of Delhi Public School released pigeons symbolizing peace and freedom. Sporting tri-coloured clothes, students presented skits and patriotic songs. A Power Point presentation screening articles in the Indian constitution was the highlight of the show.

Parade, classical dance with a robotic touch, patriotic songs, music and fun formed part of celebrations at Little Angels School, M.V.P. Colony. G.S.S. Arun Kumar of Class X participated as chief guest and hoisted the national flag. Secretary and correspondent of the school M. Venumohan congratulated the efforts made by the national-level achievers of the school and gave away prizes to the winners who participated in various competitions.

Ravindra Bharathi School celebrated the day with an impressive cultural show. Children dressed themselves as freedom fighters spoke on the importance of celebrating the day. K. Srilatha, US-based diabetologist participated as chief guest. Principal of the school N.V. Ramani and staff of the school were present.
