Voters to get ID cards at doorstep

The voters who had enrolled their names for inclusion in the electoral rolls between October 2013 and January 16, 2014 will be handed over their electoral photo identity cards (EPIC) at their doorstep.

Booth-level officers of the Election Commission would go door-to-door and deliver the cards free of cost, Assistant Returning Officer, Visakhapatnam North Assembly segment, and Visakhapatnam Urban Tahsildar T. Venu Gopal said.

In the North Assembly segment 18,000 cards have been received from the Election Commission and they would be distributed by the respective BLOs, he said.

The eligible registered voters can call up the BLOs for the cards and need not pay any amount, he clarified.
