VSP plans big for new fiscal

The focus of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant should shift from the produce to sell concept to produce to customer’s needs, its CMD P. Madhusudhan said while releasing the Vision Document 2025 during his address to the senior officials of the plant on the occasion of the beginning of new financial year on Wednesday.

This was necessary in the present competitive world and the marketing department must make use of the ERP CRM tool effectively, he said and urged the work collective to focus on the maintenance aspects to improve the plant operations and equipment life. Good techno-economc parameters held to bring down the cost of production, Mr. Madhusudhan said and wanted the workforce to achieve the 5 per cent reduction in conversion cost on each shop floor to improve the bottom line.

The CMD lauded the VSP workforce for its performance and the growth achieved in spite of cyclone Hudhud causing heavy damage and was sure that the target fixed for 2015-16 would be achieved.

VSP has set itself a target of achieving five million tons of hot metal, 4.9 million tons of liquid steel, 4.3 million tons of saleable steel and a turnover of around Rs 18,000 crore. Directors T.K. Chand, P.C. Mohapatra, G.B.S. Prasad, D.N. Rao and T.V.S. Krishna Kumar and CVO B. Siddhartha Kumar highlighted achievements and challenges faced during the last financial year.
