Waltair Division achieves growth in freight, passenger revenue

The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) has earned originating revenue of Rs.4,813.25 crore during the first nine months of the present fiscal, registering an increase of 7.03 per cent over the corresponding period the last financial year, Divisional Railway Manager Anil Kumar said.

In his message at the 66{+t}{+h}Republic Day at the RPF Parade Grounds, here on Monday, the DRM outlined the development works being undertaken and achievements of the employees and officials of the Division.

The Division had carried 40.21 MT originating freight traffic and 25.23 million originating passengers during 2014-15 (till December) and earned Rs.4,813.25 crore, which was 7.03 per cent more than the earnings during the same period in 2013-14.

He spoke about the improvement of passenger amenity works like provision of a new entry to platform no. 8 and improvement of circulating area on Gnanapuram-side at Visakhapatnam railway station, PRS (Passenger Reservation System) was commissioned at Madhurawada Post Office in August last year under India Post PRS centre policy and PRS at Simhachalam Devasthanam was opened on January 1, 2015. Earlier, Mr. Anil Kumar unfurled the National Flag and took the Rastriya Salami presented by the contingent of Railway Protection Force, cadets of Bharat Scouts and Guides and Civil Defence Personnel.

Divisional Cultural Association and cadets of Bharat Scouts and Guides and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghathan, Waltair, presented cultural programmes and patriotic songs.

The DRM announced cash awards to the tune of Rs.33000 to various departments, which excelled in the performances as part of the Republic Day celebrations.

East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation president Anju Anil Kumar and its vice-president Santosh Meena visited Railway Hospital and distributed health drinks and fruits among patients. ECoRWWO presented clothes to newborn babies.
