Appeal to Union government

‘Don’t launch open-pit mining’

July 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - BENGALURU:

The KGF Citizens Protection Forum has appealed to the Union government to re-launch underground mining, instead of launching open-pit mining in Kolar Gold Fields. Forum convener Dass Chinnasavarai said if the Centre launches its proposed open-pit mining, several buildings will have to be demolished and a large number of people will lose their houses. If the underground mining is re-launched, it will not only help people in safeguarding their houses but will also provide employment to many, he said. — Staff Reporter
