Two security staff of a super market in Electronic City here have been booked for assault, robbery and outraging the modesty of a Bangladeshi woman after they thrashed and stripped her, on Friday.
The staff claimed that they were ‘searching’ the woman after finding a pair of slippers that was not billed in her possession as she was exiting the super market. It is said that a local politician also supported the security staff.
The victim had come down to the city for her husband's treatment. The Electronic City police, who have booked a case against the security staff based on her complaint, said that the couple had sold their property before coming to the city.
The police said that in her complaint, she had stated that she had Rs. 65,000 with her. After admitting her husband to Narayana Hrudayalaya, she went to the super market to buy some essential commodities and a pair of slippers.
While she was about to leave the super market, the security staff found that the pair of slippers was not billed. Accusing her of stealing them, the staff allegedly stripped and thrashed her, and even took away the money she had had on her.
The Electronic City police, based on her complaint, summoned the security staff and the local politician.
