The body a new-born baby boy was found in dilapidated house in Sanjivininagar, Kodigehalli, close to Kempegowda International Airport road, on Saturday morning.

A group of youth, who were playing cricket nearby, found the body buried under debris and informed the police.

“While playing, the ball fell into a dilapidated house, and the boys went inside looking for the ball. They found loose cloth on the ground of a room. When they removed the cloth, they found legs and arms which seemed to belong to a fully-grown child,” a senior police officer in Kodigehalli said.

"It looked like someone had buried the baby alive in a small pit and covered it with a cloth underneath the mud and debris," the police said.

The Kodigehalli police exhumed the body and sent it for post-mortem.

The house belonged to Shivanna, a resident of Tumkuru. Neighbours said that the house had been locked for the last two years.

The police have summoned Mr. Shivanna for investigation, while police are trying to find out if anyone had visited the house recently.
