The Jnanabharati police have registered a case against an Uber cab driver for allegedly abusing a woman passenger over a trivial row during a trip from Electronics City to Nagarabhavi on Friday .

Roopasri had booked the car online and the driver, identified as Suresh, picked her and her child from Electronics City. She intended to visit her mother’s house in Nagarabhavi.

Trouble started when Suresh started taking a different route and Roopasri insisted that he take the route familiar to her.

Enraged by this, Suresh allegedly started abusing her. “He used the phone and pretended to hurl abuses at someone, but it was intended for me,” the passenger said in her complaint. He continued to do so till they reach their destination.

Suresh allegedly hurled abuses at Roopasri when she was alighting from the taxi, prompting her family members to intervene. When neighbours started to gather, Suresh, sensing trouble, drove off.

The Jnanabharati police are on the lookout for the accused.
