Driver steals from employer to buy new car

The HAL police have arrested a 40-year-old cab driver for stealing gold valuables worth Rs. seven lakh from his employer's house in Marathahalli on Saturday.

The accused, Ajaikumar Senapathy, a native of Orissa was working as driver in the house of a city-based software engineer.

The accused had stolen gold valuables worth Rs. seven lakh and was about to board a train for his native from K.R. Puram railway station where he was nabbed within hours of the theft.

Inquiry revealed that Senapathy had demanded a new car from his employer so as to be able to start his own cab business which his employer refused. Senapthy stole the valuables to buy the new car, police said.

The police have recovered the valuables and remanded the accused to judicial custody.
