The iconic Bangalore Club is yet to take a call on the name change.

As the city will go from Bangalore to Bengaluru from Saturday, many institutes are yet to take a call on undergoing a name change.Bangalore University (BU), despite being a State-run varsity, has received no intimation from the government to change its name, said Registrar (Administration) K.K. Seethamma.

The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) one of the premier IIMs in the country, is also yet to get orders from the Ministry of Human Resource Development on a possible name change, an IIMB spokesperson said. Meanwhile, the iconic Bangalore Club, started in 1868, is yet to take a call on the name change. Col. H.P.M. Soans (Retd.), secretary of the club, said it was for the president and other members to take a collective call on the issue.

This, even as the State government is set to pass on the baton to its various departments to rename themselves wherever there is mention of the city’s name. “We have christened Bangalore to Bengaluru. Now, in turn, it is left to institutions/government bodies to change accordingly,” Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra said here on Friday.
