HC suggests single window system for disbursing claims under relief scheme

The Bench made suggestion while hearing a PIL petition complaining about failure of the State government and KSLSA to effectively implement the scheme

August 29, 2014 12:36 am | Updated 12:36 am IST - Bangalore:

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday suggested that a single window system should be evolved for processing and disbursing claims under the Victim Compensation Scheme.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D.H. Waghela and Justice Ashok B. Hinchigeri also said it would be proper to appoint a woman as the nodal officer at every district. The Bench made this suggestion while hearing a PIL petition filed by a group of women advocates complaining about failure of the State government and the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) to effectively implement the scheme. The Bench adjourned the hearing while asking all the stakeholders to submit suggestions to improve implementation of the scheme.
