Photos of CM on oil packets: BJP complains

August 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 01:13 pm IST - Bengaluru:

The printing of photographs of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on the palm oil packets being provided through the public distribution system has again kicked up a row, with the Opposition BJP filing a complaint before the State Election Commission (SEC), accusing the ruling Congress of violating the model code of conduct.

A delegation of BJP leaders led by the former Law Minister S. Suresh Kumar, which filed the petition before the SEC, alleged that the ruling party was misusing the government scheme to get political advantage in the ensuing elections to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.

The BJP leaders demanded that the SEC should file criminal cases against both Mr. Siddaramaiah and Mr. Rao for violating the poll code.
