The city police made a breakthrough by arresting an office assistant of the private school in Jalahalli here for allegedly sexually abusing a three-year-old child at the school recently.

The arrest was made on Saturday, after the victim reportedly identified the man from a set of photographs of all staff members of the school.

The arrested has been identified as Gundappa (45), a resident of A.K. Colony, Jalahalli, who was an office assistant at the school for the past two years.

Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi, who announced the arrest at a press conference on Saturday, said the girl had been consistent about the identity of the suspect. “We got a counsellor from NIMHANS and the child, during the counselling as well, identified the same man to have abused her,” Mr. Reddi said.
