It was a nightmarish ride for two techies on Friday as a late night escapade to Nandi Hills resulted in an accident that cost the pillion rider his life. The duo, reportedly drunk, fell after hitting a speed breaker at high speed near Raani Circle.

The deceased is Dileep Singh (26). He was from Bihar. His friend, Himanshu Soni, is from Madhya Pradesh. They shared a rented accommodation in Koramangala. Dileep was employed with Huawei in Whitefield while Himanshu works with Amadeus Software Labs in Sarjapur Outer Ring Road, Kadubeesanahalli, police sources said.

According to the police, the accident took place on the busy Devanahalli road between 4.30 a.m. and 4.45 a.m. Himanshu was wearing a helmet but Dileep was not.

While Himanshu escaped with minor injuries, Dileep sustained injuries on the head. People living nearby alerted the police who shifted the duo to a private hospital where Dileep was declared brought dead. Later, the body was shifted to Ramaiah hospital for post mortem. Himanshu, after being discharged from the hospital, was remanded in judicial custody.
