The six-year-old daughter of a landlord was strangled to death by a tenant following an argument in Mahadevapura on Monday.

The victim, Kavitha, went missing on Monday evening and her body was found in the tenant Suresh Kumar’s house. The accused, along with his wife and child, is on the run.

According to the police, Manjunath had rented out a single-bedroom house to Suresh two months ago. Suresh, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, was working as a fabricator in Mahadevapura, the police said.

“He and his wife Pratima fought frequently with Manjunath’s family over trivial issues,” Assistant Commissioner of Police G.B. Manjunath said.

On Monday, the couple locked the house and left minutes before Kavitha was found missing around 6 p.m. After searching for four hours, Manjunath broke open Suresh’s house and found Kavitha lying under the cot.

Manjunath rushed her to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared her as brought dead.

“We have some definite leads on the whereabouts of the accused and he will be nabbed soon,” Mr. Manjunath said.
