Truck transporting 26 Honda motorcycles gutted

A truck transporting 26 new motorcycles was gutted in an accidental fire on Dr. Rajkumar Road in Rajaji Nagar on Thursday. No casualties were reported as the driver jumped out of the truck to safety.

Two fire tenders managed to douse the fire after 40 minutes. The value of the lost property is yet to be estimated, police said.

According to fire officials, the truck was transporting 26 Honda motorcycles and was heading towards Max Honda showroom to deliver the vehicles when the incident took place around 3.10 a.m. Gururaj, the driven noticed the smoke from the engine and stopped the lorry near Suguna Hospital to check. As he opened the bonnet of the truck, fire broke out due to electrical short circuit which engulfed the vehicle. The driver escaped unhurt though the consignment of motorcycles was gutted.

The Rajajinagar police have taken up a case and are investigating.
