Scarcely after their release from the Bangalore Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara on bail on Monday, two small screen artistes were arrested again on charge of stealing valuables from their friend’s house.

According to the police, the arrested persons Sujatha (40) and her accomplice Kavitha (35) were arrested recently for allegedly stealing things from a friend’s house. They were remanded in judicial custody a week ago.

Sujatha has acted in Kannada tele-serials ‘Mangalya’ and ‘Rangoli’.

Sujatha’s friend, Kavana, a TV artiste from Vijayanagar, has filed a complaint stating that Sujatha had stolen gold and silver valuables from her house last month.

Kavana said that she was admitted to a private hospital and had asked Sujatha to take care of the house when the latter made away with a gold chain and silver articles worth Rs. 1.7 lakh.

According to the police, Sujatha confessed that the she was running a chit fund business and had incurred a huge loss. In order to recover the loss, she resorted to stealing valuables from her friends’ houses with the help of her associate Kavitha.

“This is the third theft case booked against them and we suspect that the duo are involved in many such cases”, said a senior police officer.
