A high-end car proceeding on Dr. Guruswamy bridge in Chetpet caught fire due to a technical snag on Thursday night.

G. Karthick, a resident of Mangalapuram, who was witness to the fire accident, rushed to the spot immediately along with his friends and helped the owner of the car S. Ganesh to escape from the car.

They also informed the Chetpet police and the Fire Control Room. Traffic was affected for more than 30 minutes due to the fire incident.

An official of the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services said a fire tender was rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control.
