In a step towards promoting tourism in the island nation, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) conducted a road show in Chennai on Wednesday.

The event that kick-started at Sheraton Park Hotel in Alwarpet featured hospitality providers from Mauritius, including luxury hotels, tour package providers and notably, representatives from Air Mauritius, the country’s flagship carrier.

Over 100 people, including city-based international tour organisers participated in the day-long event.

Speaking at the event, Vijaye Haulder, deputy director, MTPA, said Mauritius has been a round-the-year tourist destination for leisure and adventure. “Apart from the beaches, wildlife safaris in Mauritius have been a double delight for tourists. The animal life at the island will surely be an experience to cherish for every traveller,” he said.

Vijay Anand, country manager of MTPA, said the road show is an excellent opportunity for tourism stakeholders from Mauritius to network with Indian travel and tour providers and give a preview on new and existing products.
