August 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated November 17, 2021 01:00 am IST - CHENNAI:

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to visit the city on August 7 to attend a function of the Union Textile Ministry, the Chennai police are gearing up to provide three-tier security.

“The number of personnel to be deployed is yet to be decided,” said a police source.

The Chennai airport has already come under a five-tier security blanket. “Checks have already started. Our security measures will be fool-proof,” said a senior police officer. The traffic police have made elaborate arrangements to regulate vehicle movement along Mr. Modi’s route. Surveillance will also be increased in railways stations and bus termini.
