: One person died after a goods train collided with a truck in Purulia district of West Bengal.

While the driver of the truck died, the helper was severely injured and admitted to a local hospital.

The incident took place between the Kantadih and Tamna station in South Eastern Railway’s Adra division.

The engine and 11 wagons of the goods train were derailed in the collision and disrupted train services as the up and down lines of the section got blocked.

“The driver of the truck died as his vehicle collided with the goods train after he broke through the level crossing gate and rammed the goods train,” the Sanjoy Chief Public Relations Officer of South Eastern Railway told The Hindu .

Even though no long distance trains were cancelled, those which were to pass through the Purulia-Chandil route were diverted via an alternate route of Purulia-Kotshila Muri-Chandil.
