A seminar on the ‘Importance of premarital counselling,’ organised by the Yuva Sahithee Samajam in the city on Thursday, stressed on the need to re-organise the agendas of various social organisations in such a way as to reduce the increasing incidents of family breakups, misuse of technology, and drug abuse.

Speakers at the seminar said it was high time various community-level and youth organisations in Kerala tried to find a solution to the issue and help families on the verge of a break-up.

It should be treated with utmost significance as the trend might go adverse and create an impact on society, they said.

The panellists including T.P. Abdullakoya Madhani, president, Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen; Hussein Madavoor, general secretary, Indian Islahi Movement; Sheikh Mohammed Karakkunnu, assistant ameer, Jamaat-e-Isami, and P. Mohammed Koya, general secretary of the Muslim Service Society, called upon socio-cultural and religious organisations to support the cause.

They also emphasised on the importance of premarital guidance programme for the youth.
